my daughters

when i was young i always hoped i'd have a daughter
maybe even four
sort of like my own little women

i knew i wanted my little girls named after special members of our family.
i love these children of mine
i do
i love everything about them
they are everything i dreamed of

i'm working on special letters for them
but every single time i begin to think what i want to say
i start to cry....

i love you my four little women
i am so proud of what you're becoming
i love being your Mommy

St. Maarten in February

I returned home a few days ago from my visit to St. Maarten and gosh, it is hard to get used to normalcy again. It was absolutely gorgeous there, the water was bluer, the air was fresher, the food was better and the company was awesome. I joined my 2 sisters-in-law Lisa and Susan on this trip and we had the best time. We laughed and cried, shared and listened, ate and drank, slept and exercised. We just about did it all...precious memories.

We ate a French restaurant L'Auberge at Grand Case. It was fantastic. I really enjoyed the sparking water there for some reason. They serve it everywhere you go and simply ask, "flat or sparkling"? I chose sparkling, why choose flat! Now that I'm home I bought some Pellegrino water to have on my counter, a little flashback of my island time.

The trip to Grand Case is an all together different story. I told my husband we wouldn't rent a car, it was too stressful driving on the island, we could take a taxi, it's probably too expensive to rent a car...what did we do? Yep, rented a car. We left at sunset and set out for Grand Case, about a 25 minute drive from Dawn Beach. We never in a million years thought the trip would be so difficult, dangerous and probably pretty dumb to make, not knowing the road conditions. These were some of the steepest hills I've ever been on. And the cliffs, the turns, the narrowness of the road, the buses flying down the hills, not willing to stop for our little Kia Picanto. Did I mention the pot holes? Unbelievalbe....it was like you were on the Wild Mouse at an amusement park. Lisa held on for dear life and Susan poked her little head in between the front seats from the back just like Donkey in Shrek...haha. Love ya Sue!

Our little car, cute, isn't it? Not so powerful unfortunately. We actually stopped going up one hill. I switched to 2nd gear in hopes for some movement. Nothing. We had to putt-putt up that hill...still don't know how we made it.

We enjoyed most afternoons sitting by the pool with our books basking in the Carribean sun, soaking in the rays, hoping they'd get us through the rest of the winter back in Virginia. I think they will.

It was a fanstastic trip!

I am blessed to be able to go with Lisa and Susan, thanks for the memories gals...

Until next time...

May we keep our little piece of Heaven tucked away in our hearts for always...
